The Deer Trail is a 120 kilometer triangular motor route in the Elliot Lake region and is a must for all visitors. The Deer Trail has some of the most beautiful, unspoiled landscapes of the north and hosts a variety of outdoor recreational activities year round.

The Fire Tower Lookout is a replica of a fire rangers’ lookout and provides a stunning, panoramic view of the area.

There are more than 4,000 lakes surrounding Elliot Lake and dozens of them, some of them over 200 feet deep, hold the largest stock of lake trout in Ontario. Speckle and rainbow trout, bass and pike are also plentiful.

Canoeing has a special magic in this paradise of nature. Routes are mapped that can take two to five days to complete and canoeists can often explore part of these routes on day trips. If you don’t have a canoe, you can rent one at Laurentian Lodge.

There are hundreds of hiking, walking and backpacking opportunities along the Deer Trail. The area boasts some of the most magnificent and geologically significant rock formations in the world not to mention abandoned logging camps and mines from a bygone era.

The Deer Trail has well-paved roads and many cycling trials throughout its forests and lakes, and the air is clean, invigorating and free from pollution.

Two 18-hole and one 9-hole golf courses are within 11/2 hours of Laurentian Lodge.
